Jets get personal best times in larger pool

The Flin Flon Aqua Jets recently returned from a successful swim meet in Saskatoon at the Shaw Centre where they competed in a 50-metre Olympic size pool for the first time this year. Nine athletes attended the meet, with two of the swimmers competing for the very first time. Highlights of the meet included each swimmer putting up personal bests in several swims as well as bringing home three first place finishes, two second place finishes and four third place finishes. Eight swimmers also qualified for Junior Provincials taking place in Winnipeg at the end of June. The swimmers qualified in the following events: Andie Shaw (13) in 50 metre Backstroke and 50 metre Freestyle Austin Dubreuil (14) in 50 metre Fly and 100 metre Fly, 50 metre Breaststroke, 200 metre Backstroke and 400 metre Individual Medley Dubreuil also qualified for Man/Sask Regionals in July in 50 metre Backstroke and 100 metre Freestyle Danika Barabanoff (10) in 50 metre Backstroke Jenna Taylor (10) in 100 metre Breaststroke Meadow Taylor (10) in 50 metre Freestyle, 50 metre Backstroke, and 50 metre & 100 metre Breaststroke. Ryan Nawrocki (10) in 50 metre & 100 metre Backstroke and 50 metre Freestyle Taya Rogers (10) in 50 metre Backstroke Todd Nawrocki (15) in 50 metre, 100 metre & 200 metre Freestyle and 50 metre Fly Carly Nowlin (12) also had an impressive meet, putting up Personal Best times in all seven swims _ including taking an amazing :25 off in her 100 metre Breaststroke. Next up for the team is hosting The Flin Flon Spring Thaw Invitational Meet scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday at the Flin Flon Aqua Centre. Teams from The Pas and Thompson are attending. This event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. Come out to support and cheer on our amazing athletes!
