Compiled by Kelly Carrington Jason Jacobson, originally from Denare Beach, led Saskatchewan to a 6-3 victory over Manitoba to win the Canadian Police Championships this past weekend. Based on Montreal, the Jacobson rink rebounded with a win in the semifinals over CPCA 7-1. They lost 7-6 in an extra-end decision to Manitoba earlier in the playoff action on Friday. Team Saskatchewan finished the round-robin play on Thursday as they defeated Quebec 7-5 and Northern Ontario 9-1. Jacobson's team finished in first place with a 10-1 record. In second place, Manitoba, Canada and CPCA tied with a 7-4 record. The tie breaker went to Manitoba. Starting Out Jacobson began with the sport as a teen at the Creighton Curling Club. Jacobson later moved to Saskatoon where he picked up competitive curling _ as his father had done. The Denare Beach native has been to the Provincial Junior Final and made three trips to the Provincial Men's Brier final. In all four events, Jacobson's rink placed second. In 2009, he and his wife Amanda represented Saskatchewan at the Canadian Mixed Championships. The following year, Jason attended the Canadian Brier, for Saskatchewan, as a fifth man. 2012 marked the third time Jason has been to the Canadian Police Championships. He started out as a third, but has since moved into the skip role. Last year the team brought home a Bronze medal. In the three years he has participated, Jacobson has been voted All Star at his position.
