Squeaking runners and heavy breaths filled the Creighton Sportex Wednesday as a group of youngsters learned why lacrosse is known as the fastest sport on two feet. Formerly held on weekends, Creighton Recreation and Parks has moved its free lacrosse nights to Wednesday. Each week, instructor Russell Dobie spends time instructing players on the basics of the sport before letting them loose for a game. While children make up nearly all participants, instructor Russell Dobie says people of all ages are welcome to attend. He says lacrosse is a great summer alternative for residents who enjoy playing hockey. Dobie plans to host lacrosse nights every Wednesday at the hockey rink side of the Sportex until hockey season arrives.
