Indoor Soccer hosts six teams, two playoffs

Roughly 84 kids ran the length of the Whitney Forum rink area Ð more than once Ð this past weekend as they chased a bright green soccer ball. The 7th Annual Spring Soccer Kickoff Indoor Tournament got started Thursday and continued with games until the playoffs on Saturday. With two age groups (1995-97, 1998-00) taking part, six teams played a double-round-robin tournament. Starting off the tournament, teams played Thursday night with RK's Metal Crushers taking on Dwayne's Glass Smashers, Whitford Pavers taking on Kirkham's Kickers, Ped's Panthers taking on RK's Metal Crushers and Treeline Timberwolves taking on the Whitford Pavers. More action got underway on Friday with Kirkham's Kickers back on the cement to take on the Treeline Timberwolves with a game between Ped's Panthers and Dwayne's Glass Smashers got the evening started. The third game of the night went to RK's Metal Crushers and Dwayne's Glass Smashers while Kirkham's Kickers ended out the night against the Whitford Pavers. Saturday morning, the games started early with RK's Metal Crushers and Ped's Panthers in game one. The second game saw Treeline Timberwolves taking on Kirkham's Kickers while game three went to Ped's Panthers and Dwayne's Glass Smashers. The final game, before the play-offs, went to Whitford' Pavers and Treeline Timberwolves. Getting the play-off action started, for the 1995-97 born players, Treeline Timberwolves took on the Whitford Pavers Ð leaving the Pavers to take on the Kirkham Kickers for the Gold. Taking home the gold, the Kickers came down on the Pavers 1-0. For those born in 1998-00, Ped's Panthers and Dwayne's Glass Smashers started off the play-offs. Taking the win, the Glass Smashers played RK's Metal Crushers for the Gold Ð but lost 4-0, leaving RK's the winner.
