Twenty-two teams made their way to the Willow Park Curling Club for the Northern Safeway Men's Berth Bonspiel for a floater spot for a chance to represent Manitoba in the Brier. Teams filled the ice at 4:45 last Friday afternoon for the first game and continued on until Monday, when the finals were held. Rae Hainstock and his Burntwood Curling Club team of Gerry Haight, Alex Sutherland and Claude Hykawy defeated La Salle's Randy Neufeld 6- 5 to win the Safeway Championship Northern Berth. Hainstock and his team will join already qualified teams Jeff Stoughton, Kerry Burtnyk and Lorne Hamblin at the Keystone Centre in February for the Safeway Championship.
