The Humboldt Broncos clinched first place in the Dodge Conference and a date with the Nipawin Hawks in the first round of the SJHL playoffs by defeating the Melville Millionaires 3-1 on Tuesday night. The Millionaires can tie the Broncos for first overall with a win in Melfort on Friday, but Melville would have three more wins than Humboldt. The Battlefords' North Stars ended a two game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Nipawin Hawks. led by Michael George with a pair of goals. After two consecutive losses from goaltender Brent Walker, Justin Pesony played a solid game between the pipes for the North Stars, stopping 40 pucks as Battleford was out shot 42-24. The Kindersley Klippers kept pace with the top teams in the Dodge, beating the Melfort Mustangs 7-3. Troy Schwab led the way with three goals and an assist. The Klippers are one point behind the North Stars for second place in the Dodge conference, and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams played their final game of the regular season last night. The Yorkton Terriers can finish no worse than fourth in the Sherwood Conference, as the Estevan Bruins picked up a single point in their 3-3 tie with the Weyburn Red Wings on Tuesday night. Estevan finishes the season with 58 points, and will need a win or tie from Yorkton when the Terriers host the Notre Dame Hounds in order to stay alive in the playoffs. Notre Dame needs a win in order to jump ahead of Estevan for the final playoff spot.
