The Flin Flon Bombers played the second leg of their four-game road trip last Wednesday night in Notre Dame, taking on the Hounds. With a crowd of 361 people out at the Duncan McNeil Arena to see the action, the Bombers started off the game with the first goal, but it was the last goal in the third period that ultimately brought them down. The Hounds skated away with a 4-3 victory over the Bombers. Calvin Bartel was back in the net for the Bombers after being out with an injury for quite sometime. In a previous interview, Bartel said he couldn't wait to get back out onto the ice. "It's hard to watch your team play," he said. Goalie Carsen Chubak had been in net previous. The Bombers got the scoring off to a start in the first period with the first goal of the night at 6:58. Robert Beaudry fed teammate Tommy Castonguay the puck as he put it past Notre Dame's goalie to light up the lamp. It didn't take long for the Hounds to answer back. After 15:03 of play, the Hounds snuck one past Bartel, tying the score at one apiece. The second 20 minutes of play showed positives for both teams, with each putting two goals in the net. First up was the Hounds putting a shot past Bartel to make the score 2-1 for the home team. Lighting up the lamp once again was the Hounds, putting their third goal of the night into the mesh for a two-goal lead. With the score now 3-1, the Bombers pulled up their socks and scored their final two goals of the night. First was Mitch Dougall assisted by Brennon Cox at 8:48. With the Bombers coming up on the Hounds, Reid MacLeod scored the final goal for Flin Flon, bringing the score to 3-3. MacLeod was fed by Dennis Kubat and Dustyn Clegg, which brought an end to the second period. The Hounds and Bombers hit the ice once more for the final 20 minutes of play. Adding to the scoreboard for the final time that night was Notre Dame, scoring their fourth marker of the night. That's how the score would remain as the Bombers lost 4-3. The Bombers had 32 shots on net while the Hounds only managed 22 shots. The Bombers took on the Weyburn Red Wings Friday night and the Estevan Bruins Saturday night. See Wednesday's paper for more. The Bombers hit the ice next at the Whitney Forum to take on the Nipawin Hawks next Saturday, November 3.
