NOTRE DAME-Six unanswered goals, including three on the power-play, was the demise of the Flin Flon Bombers as they lost to Notre Dame 6-3. The Bombers woke up the sleeping Hounds who found themselves trailing 3-0 after the Bombers dominated the opening period. Goalie Travis Crickard, who made his first start of the season against the Hounds during the Saskatoon Showcase, was given the nod in this game. If you were listening on the radio, one thought entering your mind must have been, can the Bombers build on this great start? Just like things fell apart against the Estevan Bruins in the second period, the Bombers let the Hounds right back in the game as they scored three in the period. Their first goal was on the power-play as their league-leading man-advantage was firing on all cylinders finishing 3-for-7 on Thursday night. As the Bombers defensive game struggled, Crickard did his best to keep his team in it, but a goalie can only do so much. His strong play continued in the third, as his team gave up a breakaway and Crickard making the save, which Rob Hart described as a "game saver." Thomas Hawkins would later get a breakaway chance and capatalize on Crickard, who ended the game making 33 saves on 39 shots. "I thought he played excellent," says coach Brad Snyder, from his cell phone. "He was outstanding." Hounds goalie Andrew Goulet made 27 saves on 30 shots. Both teams went into their dressing room with the score 3-3 after two periods, but the Hounds built on their momentum to score three more. The Bombers power-play, which poses no threat, went 1-for-7 as Blake Rolston scored his first goal of the season. He was set up by Dalton Pajak and Tyler Beachell, who continue their point-producing tears. In order for the Bombers to become a threat on the power-play, they may have to consider less puck movement and simply putting the puck on net. Other goals for the Bombers came from Richard Dupre, who scored his fifth, assisted by Brett Needham and Jared Kissick, and midget 'AA' call-up Kyle Assie, by Kenton Staines and Bradyn McCullough. The Needham-Dupre-Kissick line has been playing well on this roadtrip as they collected seven points against the Estevan Bruins. "They have probably been one of our strongest of late," Snyder says of Dupre's line on this roadtrip. Snyder has also been impressed with the work of Needham along the boards as he has shown his strength. Wahsontio Stacey and Thomas Hawkins, of the Hounds, each had very good games as they collected four points. The loss gave the Bombers a 3-12-0-1 record as of Thursday. They are one point ahead of the Kindersley Klippers with two games on hand. They are trying to catch the Melfort Mustangs who have one game and eight points on the Bombers.
