In an effort to have a huge Canada Day parade this year, Northland Ford is looking for submissions. The local dealership, which is sponsoring the parade for the Trout Festival, says they are looking for anyone and everyone to enter into the parade. The annual event is always a crowd favourite, but over the years the number of floats and entries have dwindled. "We want this to be the biggest and best yet," read a newsletter handed out to local businesses and organizations, "and we need your help to do so." The theme this year is Happy 60th Birthday - Celebrating the Past, Present and Future. Allison Wilson, general manager of Northland Ford, says she hopes to see a variety of entries this year. Krista Lemcke, business manager, says people are encouraged to enter floats with ideas based on their favourite entries from the past and even what they think the future will be like. It's open for interpretation, they agreed. The sponsors suggest taking a minute to "think back to your favourite Trout Festival memory." Lemcke says everyone is encouraged to enter Ð everyone from businesses to organizations and even schools. An entry doesn't have to be on the back of a flatbed or even in a truck. And a group can enter as a walking part of the float to hand out candy to children. It can be anything, the women said. The Canada Day parade is set to take place on July 1 at 11 a.m. It start at CFAR and continues to North of 53 Consumers Co-op. To register a float, contact Northland Ford at 687-3940.
