Being named captain of a team is an honour in any case Ð but for the 2010-11 Flin Flon Bomber captain, it's even more so. Forward Ryan Fox, a Creighton resident, has been handed the 'C'. "An honour, I would have to say yes for sure," said Fox, "especially being a home town kid." Initially, Bomber head coach and GM Mike Reagan had selected Matty Lecours to wear the top letter, but when word came that Lecours would not be returning to the Maroon and White this season, a decision had to be made. "When Matty Lecours decided that he wasn't coming back...we were really torn about who to give it to," said Reagan. Lecours had been with the team for two years. Needing to fill his shoes, Reagan looked to Fox. "Foxy, you know, he's not the most vocal guy, but man does he lead by example," said the coach. "He's getting better with the vocal thing. It's one of those things, that when Foxy speaks, guys listen. "He's not one of those guys that's just always talking. It means something when he (speaks)," said Reagan. When word first came to Fox, he says he was happy and proud of himself. "I'm very lucky and I appreciate Reags looking at me to wear the C this year," said the returning player. "Its a challenge, but I'm willing to accept it. I feel that it will step my game up and overall, I'm very happy," he said. As a former Bomber himself, Reagan knows the honour that comes with playing for your home team. "Not many local guys get that opportunity to wear the C," he said. "I got a letter, but I was pretty disappointed when I didn't get chosen as the captain." Being a local or not, Reagan says he knows Fox will do a stand up job. "Knowing what type of guy he is, he takes the job seriously. He's the type of guy that can handle the pressure." Though there have only been two regular season games, Reagan says Fox has "done very well." As of Tuesday morning, Fox was third in the SJHL for scoring with two goals and four assists in two games. "It's not just the scoring with him. It's the blocking shots and sacrificing and finishing his checks. "He's a warrior out there," said Reagan.
