Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Moving the soccer balls aside, the annual Million Dollar Hole-in-One contest will take place at the Creighton Community Soccer Field. Dianne O'Brien of sponsor CFAR says the new location comes with some advantages. "We hope more of the community that aren't golfers...will come and realize they can be a part of it," she said. The Million Dollar Hole-in-One starts tomorrow and will run through to July 17. Typically set up shop for a week at the Phantom Lake driving range, the event will shift gears and follow the path of many other hole-in-one locations. O'Brien says the majority of the fundraising events take place in com-munity parks and green spaces. The format for the Million Dollar Hole-In-One will be the same as in years past. In total, 83 prizes will be awarded to golfers Ð with the top three at the end of the week earning either a vehicle, a pontoon boat or $6,000 from a local business. O'Brien says she hopes to see double last year's turnout. With the new location, O'Brien thinks there will be more new people stopping by this year, with, of course, the "old favourites" making an appearance as well. The event will support the Tri-Service Club, made up of the Lions, Rotary and Kinsmen clubs. Last year, Tri-Service earmarked the money for the Flin Flon Skatepark Committee with nearly $5,000 going towards the proposed park. O'Brien reminds local clubs and organizations to notify the Tri-Service Club if they are in need of support. "People sometimes forget that as the years go on," said O'Brien, adding that the groups must be local. Be sure to check out the event at the Creighton Community Soccer Field, starting tomorrow.
