Those wishing to register for the Flin Flon Summer Hockey School will have an extra chance to do so at the Roller Goodwin Memorial Classic this weekend. Director Mike Reagan will be at the Whitney Forum this weekend during all three days of the tournament; Friday from 5-6:45 p.m., Saturday from 1-3 p.m. and Sunday from 2:45-3:45 p.m. It is important to register early, so schedules can be finalized. This is Reagan's fourth year with the school, and registration is the highest it has been during his stint as director. Joining Reagan will be former director Rick Gregory. Gregory will be looking to be a head instructor, working the four-day goalie camp, provided for all goaltenders registered in the hockey school. He played college hockey in Ohio and has worked camps for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Reagan's instructors bring a wealth of knowledge, skill and enthusiasm to the school. Joining Reagan will be many former Flin Flon Bombers, as well as some of his friends from across the hockey globe. Included this year are Dallas Fidierchuk, Nathan Waberski, Dustin Ernest, Joal Williams and Brian Tucker, all former Flin Flon Bombers, as well as Chris Affinati of the Lakeland Loggerheads and Pat Iannone who played in Italy last year. Nathan Waberski is currently with the University of Regina, while Joal Williams is with Mount Royal College and Brian Tucker has been playing with the Memphis River Kings. Other special guests may be added during the school. The first week of hockey school will run from August 9-14, while week two runs from August 16-21. Age groups have also been changed slightly from previous years. Players ages 6-8 will be in the Junior category, Intermediate will be for ages 9-12, Senior for ages 13-15 and Conditioning for 16 and up for those wishing to get in proper condition for upcoming midget, junior, college or pro teams. A two week rate is available. The evening session is for ages 12-15. The day program includes 2.5 hours of quality ice time daily in which participants will be instructed in a variety of individual and team skill tactics. The off ice program includes instructional videos, hockey trivia, fitness and recreational activities. Featured events include the Superstar Competition, skill testing and the Saturday morning challenge game. The evening program consists of 75 minutes of ice time daily as well as the Saturday morning challenge game. A registration skate will kick off each week of the school on the Sunday evening before the regular sessions begin. Brochures and registration forms are available around town at various sponsor locations or at the Flin Flon Rec. Office.
