The Notre Dame Hounds won their ninth preseason game in ten contests on Tuesday night by downing the Weyburn Red Wings 4-3 on Tuesday night. Dustin MacDonald made 27 saves, and the Hounds scored two first period powerplay goals in what amounted to be the difference. Highly regarded rookie Ted Purcell had one goal and one assist in the opening twenty minutes and Dan Erlandson also tallied in the first. The Wings got on the board with a Shane Kjernistad goal with under two minutes to go in the second. The Hounds restored the two goal advantage thanks to Andrew Gordon at the eight second mark of the third. Jared Seminoff made it 4-1 before Jordan Stevenson got one back for the Wings. The final score on the game sheet indicates the Wings scored three and the shot/saves stats for MacDonald also indicates the Wings had three goals. See 'Dziaduck' P.# Con't from P.# However, there is no record of a third Wing goal. Weyburn netminder Cale Jordison made 20 saves in a losing cause. Former Yorkton Terrier netminder Kevin Dziaduck was dealt from the Swift Current Broncos to the Seattle Thunderbirds in a WHL trade on Tuesday. It was expected Dziaduck would be back in Yorkton if he didn't make the grade in Swift Current. This deal would appear to, at least, prolong his return to the Junior 'A' ranks. After leaving Yorkton at Christmas time last season, Dziaduck went 2-11-1 in seventeen games with the Tri-City Americans. He had a GAA of 5.50 and a save percentage of .852. In exchange for the Buchanan, SK native, the Broncos get a conditional sixth round draft pick. Meanwhile, the Vancouver Giants and Prince Albert Raiders traded twenty year-olds earlier this week with former Wheat King Mark Ardelan moving closer to home. The Avonlea, SK product spent the last two seasons patrolling the blueline with the Giants after being claimed in the expansion draft off the roster of the Brandon Wheat Kings. Kyle Bruce is a rugged forward, entering his fourth and final junior campaign, that is going to the west coast.
