Hockey Canada Week will celebrate hockey from November 8-15, 2003 at the national, provincial and local levels, Hockey Canada announced on Wednesday. Hockey Canada Week is a celebration of the beginning of the hockey season all across Canada and aims to promote the positive values of hockey and the work done by the over four-million volunteers involved in minor hockey in Canada each and every year. Hockey Canada Week takes over from 'Canadian Hockey Week' which was discontinued in 1999, as Hockey Canada's thirteen Branches had introduced their own 'Minor Hockey Week' at different times of the year. Hockey Canada Week is a brand new national initiative led by Hockey Canada with the participation of Branches, minor hockey associations and other community or corporate partners. Between November 8 and 15, Hockey Canada's Development Department and many of Hockey Canada's thirteen Branches will be conducting a number of camps across the country, such as Esso Fun Days, Hockey Canada Skills Development Camps, Chevrolet Safe & Fun Clinics, coaching and officiating clinics. Announcements on dates and locations will be forthcoming at www.hockeycanada.ca. How can Canadians get involved in Hockey Canada Week? The winning minor hockey association will receive $10,000 in Easton hockey equipment and products.
