The idea of a family hockey team has been fermenting for a number of years. After a few vodka coolers at last year's wedding of Jenny Reagan and Brian Webster the subject rose again, it could have been the plus 30 C heat or it might have been the cooler, or perhaps the shape of men around the table ? needless to say the Doughboys were born ? as well as the cheerleaders ? the French Tartes. The rounding of the Doughboys was like the Blues Brothers in search of the band. The descendants of Club of '27 and first baker in the Flon, Jean-Marie (Jack) Floch and his wife Philomene begat four generations that have accidentally spawned the odd hockey player and good looking Tarte. Each family has made their own little contribution. The Reagans Original French Tarte Jeanne gave birth to original Doughboys Dan and Barrie as well little tart Maureen who begat our star Michael. Dan and Sandy's daughters Jenny & Lindsey are bringing draft choices Brian Webster and Daryl Blouin. After all his work with the Bombers, Dan is finally making the Big Time as an executive Doughboy. The O'Reilly's Tarte Philomene will be hosting he Doughboy BBQ. Junior Tarte Maureen and Greg McBratney will deal with the Pig Fry. The Stephanssons Tarte Marie gave birth to many a child ? mostly lovely girls but few hockey players to count on. Darrell - the only cousin slower than myself. Kyle (the future is now). Outlaw Stu Lloyd will make a guest starring appearance. The Watts Tarte Reine - still has the Bank of Montreal in her purse. Ronnie - original Doughboy/Executive-looking to make up for that loss in the Royal Cup. Raye ? daughter of an old pro ? mother of slackers Robbie ? is still looking for his skates in the trash can. Ryan ? rumours of his running are greatly exaggerated. Mel & Donna-Lee Brough have sired our Farm Team. John Woloshyn ? A veteran Team Davidson player. Trevor ? team lawyer and backup goalie ? who wouldn't want to shoot at him? The Picards Louie Picard is the sponsor of beautiful jerseys ? and you will hear his voice across the rink. Coach Paul Sr. has said, "We have 14 skaters and one Louie". The Eastern Flochs Bill ? coming out from Ottawa ? do not hold that against him. Barry ? trying to document the tourney ? please do not hold this against me. We are saving a few stick-boy positions for brothers John & Bob. The Southern Flochs Team Doctor Louis and Nurse Merle. Our American Cousins ? and we all know that they cannot see the puck on TV. The Western Flochs Coach Paul Sr ? insulted that he is not listed as a player (he can strap them on). Ruby ? still lovely. Michael ? traded from the Kanooks for a chili burger from the Cambridge Hotel. Paul Jr. ? watching from somewhere. Germaine & Dave ? We are looking for a sponsor in Calgary next year. The Barrs/Willetts We can't organize anything without Norma & Bob's participation. Gaye signed up Gary (still searching for skates) and son Wade ? although they do not have true Doughboy physiques. The rest of the rif raf Goalie Hugh Quinn ? picked up in the dispersion draft. Willie Stovel ? played in past Roller Tourney Rob Napper ? thought it would be "nice" to see Flin Flon. Tom Goodman ? must be related somehow Eric Knutson ? Dad David thought he was related. "The Doughboys will rise again"
