The Bombers announced Tuesday they have acquired winger Dondre Watson, 19, from the AJHL’s Spruce Grove Saints in exchange for future considerations.

“He scores,” said Bombers head coach and general manager Mike Reagan when asked what Watson brings to the club.

Indeed. Watson potted 27 goals in 56 games last season for the AJHL’s Calgary Mustangs, Whitecourt Wolverines and Spruce Grove Saints. He amassed 42 points in all.

With the Bombers having lost their entire top line from last season, Reagan was in the market for a player who could replace some of that output. He expects Watson to be a top-six forward.

“He’s going to have a great opportunity to be a guy that we’re relying on to score,” Reagan said.

The move follows last week’s trade that sent 6-foot-4, 210-pound forward Adam Wilson from the Bombers to the AJHL’s Wolverines. Flin Flon gets future considerations in return.

Reagan said Wilson, 20, loved Flin Flon but needed to be closer to his home community of Edmonton for family reasons.

The gritty Wilson spent one season with the Maroon and White, scoring three goals and 19 points in 44 games. He added another three goals and five points in 16 playoff games.
