Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Trailing the Nipawin Hawks 2-0 after the first period, the Bombers were able to get an early power play goal in the second period, but it wasn't enough to carry on the momentum. The Hawks went on to win 5-3 over the home team last Saturday night. Following the Bombers' first goal, the Hawks picked up a third one late into the second period. Four more goals came in the third period Ð two for each team. Nipawin's first goal was on a power play at the start of the period. The team's fifth goal came as Bomber head coach and GM Mike Reagan pulled goalie Randy Graham to give the home team another player on the ice. The Bombers scored two goals, but were unable to get the fourth goal in the third period to tie the game. The Hawks walked away with two more points as the Bombers were back on the losing side of the gambit. The Bombers now have a week off before their next game. With a week of practice, the Bombers hope to get back on a streak and get things going. On the road to Yorkton, the Bombers will challenge the Terriers this weekend. Scoring Scoring for the Bombers Saturday night were Brandt Weldon, who opened the scoring for the team at :34 into the second period on a power play. Accepting help from Andrew Johnston and Dougie McLeod, Weldon made broke Nipawin's goose egg. McLeod earned a marker of his own in the third period as he got the puck from Jonathan Young and Riley Storzuk. The Bombers' third, and final goal, came from Young Ð with help from Storzuk. The Bombers kept the shots going against Brady Hoffman, but were unable to light the lantern. The Bombers had a total of 42 shots on Hoffman throughout the game. As for Graham, he saw the puck 33 times.
