The Bombers are no longer unbeaten, losing 5-2 to the Nipawin Hawks.
The Hawks stole the lead in the first period with a power-play goal by Logan Casavant.
Flin Flon tied the game midway through the second period after Chrystopher Collin fired home his fifth goal in three SJHL games, but the game wouldn't remain tied for long. Jake Tremblay scored late in the second period on a deflection to give Nipawin the lead - a lead they would hold until the final buzzer.
Hawks players Zach Cox, Josh Laferriere and Brett Harasymuk all added third period goals. Collin added another goal in the third for the Bombers after a goalmouth scramble, sliding it past Nipawin netminder Jake Anthony.
After Friday's game, 18-year-old Collin sits alone as the league's top goal-scorer with six goals in three matches.
Anthony earned the win for the Hawks after making 37 saves. Bomber goalie Brenden Newton made 27 saves in a losing cause.
The Bombers' loss leaves the Melfort Mustangs as the only undefeated team in the Sherwood Division. The Bombers are ranked second in the division after their first loss, having earned four points.
Before the game, SJHL commissioner Bill Chow presented the Bombers with a banner for last season's Sherwood Division championship. Coincidentally, the Bombers pipped Nipawin to the division title after a home win against the Hawks on the last day of the season.
Assistant coach Garry Childerhose was presented with the Dwight McMillan Award after being named the league's best assistant coach.
The Bombers will next hit the ice at this weekend's SJHL Showcase tournament, playing at the Hamm Latrace Arena in Saskatoon. The Bombers will face the Weyburn Red Wings on Sunday before playing the Notre Dame Hounds on Monday.
Flin Flon plays their next home game on Sep. 29 against the Melville Millionaires.
