Hundreds have been caught so far, and the in motion patrol is hoping to catch you in the second half of the Get Caught in motion program. Fran Labarre, with the NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority, says they are well on their way to bypassing last yearÕs nearly 700 ballots in the box. ÒWe are going for 1,000 this year,Ó says Labarre. ÒThe nice weather helps and there are lots of people out walking their dogs. We are catching lots of people walking.Ó But the program isnÕt limited to walking, as Labarre says it can be anything from golfing, swimming, gardening, playing with the family outside or even going to the gym. The Get Caught in motion patrol has added a factor that may make it easier for people to get caught. ÒPeople donÕt have to wait for the patrol to catch them, neighbours can catch neighbours, co-workers, friends and family as well,Ó she says. As an extra incentive, the patrol is handing out spot prizes of t-shirts, gym and pool passes. But itÕs the big prize that most are looking for. Three names will be drawn for three different Nintendo Wii systems. With the program coming to an end in September, Labarre encourages everyone to get out and get caught in motion. ÒWe want Flin Flon to be the healthiest community in Manitoba. WeÕll see how many people we can catch.Ó And it isnÕt just Flin Flon taking part in the challenge. Manitoba in motion provides the information and grant money, and it is up to the residents to fill the task. ÒWe want this to be very successful..and success is numbers, to me,Ó she says. ÒThe more we have, the more successful we are.Ó For those looking to report someone in motion, contact Fran Labarre at 687-1355. Aside from getting out and being caught, there will be a few events coming up for families to take part in. The in motion committee will be hitting up the local pools, beaches and parks to preach the importance of sun screen. And the family will be able to spend the day at the Joe Brain ChildrenÕs Petting Zoo on August 8 for the annual Family Hay Day.
