Flin Flonners wait all year for the sunshine and summertime _ well, most of us, and that includes me! We put up with the cold _ though there is plenty to do in the Winter _ and push through the rainy days for those glorious beach days. Summertime in the Flin Flon, Creighton, and Denare Beach area is like no other. There are swimming options at different beaches, there are splash pads, parks, and playgrounds to take advantage of. And don't forget about the lakes for fishing, boating, skiing, and tubing for the brave! Camping is great in this area whether you're in Denare Beach or making your way towards the Provincial parks. Summer is one of my favourite times of the year. There's plenty of opportunity to be as active or as relaxed as you want. You can spend the day biking, hiking, or spend it in the water at the beach _ or on the water, as some prefer. Of course it's important to be sun safe by wearing sun screen, a hat, sunglasses, stay in the shade, and to drink plenty of water. But sometimes it's just so hard. We broke a record last week for the hot spot in Manitoba at 32.7 reading on the thermometer _ my kind of weather! For those who are more interested in relaxing in the shade, set up a hammock, grab a book and some water and call it a day! What a perfect solution after a fresh cut lawn lays underneath you. All in all, however you choose to spend your summer _ spend it wisely. Be sun safe, even when it is so tempting to disobey the rules. Have a safe summer.
