With the regular season finishing quicker then a puck drops, here are the teams and where the stand: Flin Flon Bombers The Bombers have clinched first place in the Bauer Conference after sweeping the two games series with the Battlefords North Stars at the Whitney Forum over the weekend. They trail Weyburn by two points in the race for first overall. The Bombers play their final game on Tuesday with the Melfort Mustangs in town. Battlefords North Stars The Stars can no longer catch Flin Flon for first. They, themselves, could finish as low as third. Their magic number to clinch second is three and a half. Any combination of Melfort losses and Battlefords wins equaling three and a half gives the Stars second spot. Melfort Mustangs The Mustangs look like a good bet for third as they trail second place Battlefords by five points and lead fourth place La Ronge by three points and also enjoy two games in hand on the Ice Wolves. Still, a prolonged losing skid in their last half dozen games could be disastrous. La Ronge Ice Wolves The Ice Wolves have struggled with consistency and it appears as though they'll settle into fourth. If they win every game left and the Stars lose all of theirs they would be tied; however Battlefords won four of the six head to head encounters. Their maximum number of points they can reach is 68, and Melfort has 63 with six to play Ð as of Friday afternoon. Humboldt Broncos The three time defending Credit Union Cup champions face a long road to win a fourth straight crown. They could, conceivably, catch La Ronge for fourth; but they would need to win all four remaining games, as of Friday afternoon, and have La Ronge lose all four of theirs. Both teams would be tied and each team won three times against the other. The third tiebreaker is goals against and it looks like Humboldt would have the nod. Nipawin Hawks The Hawks are, mathematically, still alive in the playoff race. The next Humboldt win or Nipawin loss clinches a playoff berth for the Broncos. Weyburn Red Wings The Red Wings have clinched first place in the Sherwood Conference and have a two point lead on Flin Flon for first overall. Both the Bombers and Wings had three games remaining, as of Friday afternoon. Notre Dame Hounds The Hounds are winless in seven games and have watched aspirations for first place go up in smoke and now they are in danger of falling out of second. They have a two point lead on Kindersley with five games to play. The Klippers have four left on the schedule. This is, likely, the closest race of them all between now and the end of the season. Kindersley Klippers Losing to Melville February 13 keeps very slim hopes for third still alive for the Millionaires. A Kindersley win or Melville loss clinches, at least, third for the Klippers. Whether or not they can hunt down Notre Dame for home ice advantage in the conference semi-finals is the race to really keep an eye on. Melville Millionaires The SJHL's hottest team has won nine in a row and clinched home ice advantage in the Survivor Series against Yorkton with their win over Kindersley on Saturday. With four more wins and four Kindersley losses, they could sneak into third. It doesn't sound like much, but it's a tall order. Yorkton Terriers The Terriers are going to finish fifth and, very likely, going to face Melville in the best of five Survivor Series. Estevan Bruins The Bruins will finish sixth and miss the playoffs.
