With 59 athletes in tow, Hapnot Collegiate's Track and Field team made their way to The Pas last weekend for the Zone 11 portion of the season. Out of the nearly 60 athletes competing, the Flin Flon team came out with a first place win Ð leaving them 150 points farther ahead then Thompson, the second place team. "We are very excited with that," said Hapnot coach Megan Strachan. "The kids are just as excited.' With 42 athletes moving ahead this weekend to Dauphin for the Rural Provincials, Strachan says the competition it going to be bumped up a few notches. As for The Pas, Hapnot's team was told having nearly 60 athletes was the largest team they had seen in a long time. The competition, where things got interesting, was "good," says Strachan. "But we faired out pretty well with them." After Dauphin, athletes then have the chance to go to Provincials Ð which take place in Winnipeg the weekend of June 6. Although she has no idea what to expect, the coach says they "have a number of athletes with potential for Winnipeg, but it all depends."
