The gymnasium at Hapnot Collegiate saw some action recently as the Hapnot Varsity Kopper Kweens basketball team challenged the visiting Creighton Community School Kodiaks for a fun match. While it is still early in the season, Hapnot was on their game as they stood their ground and came out on top 43-15 against the Green and White. Neither Hapnot nor Creighton had a full roster, but they used what they had to their advantage. Kween Rachelle Davis walked away with 10 points for the home team, while Kristen Clark had nine points. Teammates Lucreha Benko and Cybil Fischer each earned six. Jacquelyn Spence managed eight and Ashley Krazz saw herself with four points at the end of the first half. The Kodiaks saw Brooke Knudson take away 10 points while Megan Abek earned herself four points and Kendra Moberly got on the sheet with one point. Kweens coach Karen Clark says the games between Hapnot and Creighton are played to see where each team is at. Hapnot will travel to Norway House on February 1-2 for AAA Pre Zones, while Flin Flon will be hosting the AAA Basketball Zones from February 29 to March 2. Hapnot will also be be hosting the JV Invitational Basketball Zones from February 8-9.
