The traditional ghosts and goblins seemed to stay home last Sunday afternoon as the princesses, animals and Spider-Mans were out in full force at the annual Creighton Halloween party held at the Sportex. The Town of Creighton, in partnership with the Creighton Community School, put together a costume party for the tots of the town, giving them a chance to show off their costumes and win some candy. Recreational director Channa Senyk says she was pleased with the turnout for her first year. "It was nice...and we will do it again next year," says Senyk. Activities at the Halloween party included a friendly game of ghosts and ladders, a shootout against some festive targets, bowling and, of course, a costume parade. Children participated in the activities to earn their share of candy. Aside from the fun games, guests were also taken through the haunted house, which Senyk says "everyone really enjoyed." The haunted house was enough of a hit, adults were invited to take their chance at the house Monday night. "We're charging two bucks and all the money we raise is going towards UNICEF," says Senyk, adding that she was not sure of how many to expect. In the past a silver collection has been done at the door, but this year a UNICEF jug was on a table accepting donations. As of press time Tuesday, an amount had not been given as to how much money was raised. As a positive note for the party, Senyk says, "I was really impressed that the kids and adults who came were all dressed up." While Halloween isn't until today, Senyk says Creighton's party is always the Sunday before because "Flin Flon does their Halloween Alley and we don't like to take away from each other." "And," she adds, "people spend a lot of time and money on their costumes, so this gives them another chance to wear it."
