The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce Estevan forward Donovan Hall as the Midwest Sportswear Ltd. Player of the Week for the period ending December 5th. The 20-year-old Hall made an immediate impact with the Bruins after being acquired December 1st from the Flin Flon Bombers. Hall had three assists in a 7-5 victory over the Melfort Mustangs on Friday night. Saturday, Hall had a hat trick in a 4-1 decision over the Nipawin Hawks. Hall is playing for his third team this season. He had 10 points in 15 games with the La Ronge Ice Wolves before getting dealt to the Bombers, where he was pointless in four games. Teammates Dominic Cote and Cameron Jarvis as well as Flin Flon's duo of Tyler Beachell and Andrew Skrabek also deserve consideration. Defenceman of the Week: Chris de Bruyn, Melville Millionaires The SJHL Defenceman of the Week is 18-year-old Chris de Bruyn of the Melville Millionaires. The Calgary native did his part on Sunday night to help the Millionaires try and win for just the second time in eleven games; however the Mils still lost 5-4 to the Notre Dame Hounds. de Bruyn was in all four of Melville's goals, scoring twice and setting up two others. The 18-year-old is one of the top rookies in the SJHL with 20 points in 30 games. He ranks tenth in the league amongst all first year scorers and is fourth amongst defensemen. He is the top scoring rookie blueliner. de Bruyn edged out Notre Dame's Denis Chisholm, Battlefords' Jared Mohr, and La Ronge's Patrick Voll for the award. Goaltender of the Week: Dustin MacDonald, Battlefords North Stars The SJHL Goaltender of the Week is 19-year-old Dustin MacDonald of the Battlefords North Stars. It's the third time this season MacDonald has come away with top goalie honors in a one week span. Over the last seven days, MacDonald finished with 27 saves in a 2-2 tie with Weyburn on Friday night. He made 31 saves in preserving a 1-1 draw with the Kindersley Klippers on Sunday. For the season, MacDonald is now 7-1-4 with a 1.62-GAA and .942-SPCT. He leads the league in both GAA and SPCT. Last week's winner, Brenden Cuthbert of the Weyburn Red Wings, was a runner up. Notre Dame rookie Andrew Goulet and Kindersley's Steve Houghton also made the short list. Hall receives a product from Midwest Sportswear Limited.
