Over the weekend, the Uptown Curling Rink hosted some excellent curling. The nine teams who played off for the 'Floater' spot in the upcoming Select Playdowns curled well and the 50-plus people who came out to watch saw some excellent shot making. The final four qualifiers were: Beavis (from Morden) and Gogal (Flin Flon), who were undefeated, and Sattelberger (Flin Flon) and Antila (Snow Lake). In the final game it was the two undefeated teams of Ian Beavis and his team of Steve Friesen, Ken Friesen and Mike Orchard; and Blaine Gogal and his team of Jim Quinn, Kelly Peterson and Russ Reeves who played each other for the spot. It was a fantastic game to watch, very well curled and in the end it was the Gogal foursome who came out on top. They will make excellent representatives for the North. The Provincials will be in Selkirk February 9-13, 2005. Good luck, guys!
