With only a weekÕs preparation, the Creighton Community School Senior GirlÕs Volleyball team hosted half a dozen teams in the first tournament of the season. And it didnÕt stop them one bit from keeping the first place plaque in their hands. The Kodiaks started things off against the Hapnot Kweens last Friday, where they won both games. And the girlsÕ continued their success for the rest of he weekend as they won al of their games. Coaches Jason Straile and Ryan Trumbley were both happy with the teamÕs success. But like any team, the girls have work to do. ÒWe have a lot to work on,Ó says Straile. While Trumbley noted the team always needs to work on everything. ÒThere is plenty of room for improvement,Ó added Straile. The Kodiaks hosted the tournament this past weekend, but wonÕt be hosting anything for senior girlÕs volleyball until the end of October. In the mean time, the girls travel to Carrot River this weekend, La Ronge on September 26, Wadena on October 3-4. Then the team is in Melfort, with a stop back for a home tournament before heading to Nipawin for the conference finals. Regionals, though there isnÕt a location set, will be held in the beginning of November. ÒWe have to come in the top two of 16 teams in the region,Ó says Straile, to get to Provincials, which will be held in Caronport, SK. The team made it to the Regionals last year, but were beat out in the semi-finals. So this year, the team hopes to make it to the top and bring home a banner.
