Attention girls! Have you ever wanted to give hockey a try? If so, here is a fun, no charge way to do just that. Esso Fun Days are designed for the first-time player, giving you a chance to see what hockey is all about. In order to participate, you need to bring your own skates, elbow pads, gloves, knee pads, neck protector, CSA approved helmet and face shield and a stick, which can all be borrowed from a friend or sibling, along with a whole lot of enthusiasm. At the Esso Fun Day, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of hockey, including forward and backward skating, puck handling, passing, shooting and and goaltending. You will also learn some basic concepts of hockey through cross-ice games. There will be two ice sessions and a group discussion on options in hockey, rules and regulations. This all takes place on November 28, with the first ice session at 8:30 a.m. You are also invited to come out and watch an exhibition tournament on that same weekend featuring the Flin Flon Female Bombers playing teams from Melita and Prince Albert. So grab your skates and sticks, and come out and have some fun. For more information, contact Len McKenzie by November 22 at 687-4737.
