The Flin Flon Collision soccer team found even more success in Saskatoon.

The U12 girls soccer team picked up their second first-place win this month while on the road during the weekend of June 13.

Earlier, the girls brought home Gold in the Harder Avalon Tournament and then followed it up with another Gold from the Grevers’ Eastside Tournament.

The Flin Flon girls excelled against the Hollandia Orange with a convincing 7-0 win.

Next, the Collision took on the SUSC Fusion with what was still a scoreless game at half-time.

The Collision stepped up their game in the second half and came out on top 2-0 to remain undefeated.

In the last game of the round-robin play, the Collision were up against the Eastside Edge. It was another shutout for Flin Flon as they won 3-0.

Next up was the knockout stage.

Heading into the series the Flin Flon girls had not yet allowed a goal.

They were paired with the Fusion. Again, Flin Flon took the lead, but the Fusion later equalized.

A downpour of rain couldn’t keep the teams off the pitch, but it proved difficult for both teams to earn the next goal.

Flin Flon managed to find the winning marker in the second half of extra time to win it 2-1.

A storm forced the Gold medal game to be cancelled.

Teams ended up competing in a shoot-out to claim the top team in the tournament. The finals came down to Collision and the SUSC Falcons.

It came down to the penalty shot where Flin Flon was able to “hold their nerve,” as coach Steve Lytwyn put it, and win 1-0.

The Collision not only ended the season undefeated, but concluded the tournament with only one goal against.
