Sport Manitoba is pleased to announce that the City of Thompson will play host to the 2004 Norman Regional Winter Games. The annual multi-sport event will be held from February 27 to 29. The Norman Games are open to everyone in the North in both individual and team sports in various age categories. The events featured in this year's Games include 5-Pin Bowling (10 years and up), 10-Pin Bowling (10 years and up), Hockey (Pee Wee "A"), Men's Basketball (18 years and up), Co-ed Volleyball (18 years and up), Cross Country Skiing (10 years and up), Boys and Girls Indoor Soccer (10 - 14 years), and Badminton (10 years and up). Weekend activities will also include opening ceremonies and entertainment for the youth on Saturday night. The deadline for participants to register is February 13. To register, contact your local recreation directors, physical education teachers or the Sport Manitoba Norman Regional Office. Volunteers are also required and anyone interested in giving of their time and energy can contact the City of Thompson, Department of Recreation and Culture, Jeanne Zweip, at 677-7954, or Roxie Binns, Games Assistant, Sport Manitoba-Norman Region, at 677-6898.
