The La Ronge Ice Wolves won on home ice for the first time in the ITECH Conference Final, defeating the Battlefords North Stars 4-3 in overtime to force a game seven. Scott Odelien was the hero, scoring at 5:23 of the extra frame. TJ Schneider opened the scoring for La Ronge at 6:07 of the first period, and Jared Mohr tied the game with a power play goal at 12:41. Mohr gave the Stars a lead with another power play marker just 52 seconds after the opening bell of the second period. Kris Desjarlais evened the score before the midpoint of the period at 8:29. Cody Pedersen gave the lead back to the Wolves at 7:55 of the third period, but a goal at 14:02 from Derek Keller. La Ronge was heavily out shot 53-31, including 4-1 in overtime, but it only takes one shot to win in a sudden death situation. The Stars scored two power play goals on six chances, while the Wolves were held scoreless on four advantages. A total of 876 fans were on hand in La Ronge. Game seven will be played today in North Battleford. Last night, the Estevan Bruins had a chance to eliminate the Yorkton Terriers in game six of the Sherwood Conference Final. Results were unavailable at press time.
