Manitobans and visitors will be able to experience the great outdoors and enjoy free fishing and park admission this weekend in all provincial parks, Water Stewardship Minister Steve Ashton and Conservation Minister Stan Struthers has announced. The annual Family Fishing Weekend will be held June 11 and 12 this year. For this weekend only, admission to provincial parks will be free and anglers will be able to fish without a licence provincewide. "This is a great opportunity for the first-timer to the most experienced fisher to enjoy the relaxation and fun of fishing," said Ashton. "Family Fishing Weekend gives us the chance to cast away our cares and get into the swing of summer." "We are pleased to provide access to provincial parks without the need for a vehicle permit on this weekend," said Struthers. All adult anglers who would normally require a licence this weekend will be allowed to keep a conservation licence limit of four walleye/sauger, four pike, two smallmouth bass, one lake trout, one channel catfish and two stocked trout. Limits for other species remain the same. A federal angling licence will still be required to fish in national parks.
