Daryl Fransoo has become the latest casualty of the struggling Flin Flon Bombers. Fransoo, a 19-year-old defenceman from North Battleford, is now a member of the Weyburn Red Wings. Initially, a deal was in place to send Fransoo out-of-province to an Eastern team, but under CJAHL guidelines, any team in the SJHL can match the offer made by an out-of-province team on a future considerations deal. Fransoo has played eight games this season without registering a point. He has 38-penalty minutes. The 6'2", 220Ibs blueliner played 45-games last season and had four assists and 257 penalty minutes. Earlier this month, the Bombers moved Eric Knutson to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. After losing two games to the Melfort Mustangs this past weekend, coach Ryan Hoffman has vowed to shake things up, making Fransoo the first of any number of deals that could happen this week. With the worst record in the SJHL, it was only a matter of time before changes had to be made. Only a couple of wins out of a playoff spot, there is still time to turn the season around and make a run for the playoffs. Under the new playoff format, five out of the six teams in the ITECH Conference will make the playoffs. However, the season has been shortened to 55 games, meaning for one team in each Conference, the season will be over in mid-February. The Bombers have missed the playoffs every year since hosting the Royal Bank Cup in 2001.
