Two Flin Flon Minor Hockey Association graduates will be going head-to-head this week for a Western Canadian title. Playing against former teammate Cory Dupre, Greg Kritzer is looking forward to the trip to British Columbia for the Keystone Cup Junior B Championship. Kritzer and Dupre, both Norman Northstars alumni, will compete on opposing teams for the first time. Having only ever dressed in the same colours as Dupre, Kritzer says he's looking forward to being on the opposite bench. "I haven't seen (Cory) in a while," he said. "It should be a good time." Leaving the minor hockey world, Kritzer joined the Selkirk Fishermen. This year, Kritzer's first in Junior B hockey, had a different pace than Midget. "Personally, I felt like I improved a lot," the blueliner says, noting that he hadn't had the opportunity to play that kind of hockey before. But that didn't stop him from catching on quickly. "As a team, we did very well. Through the (regular) season, we had a 20-game winning streak and were in first place." Leaving the regular season, the Fishermen, part of the Keystone Junior Hockey League, lost their first three games in he playoffs. They were able to come back to win the last four games to take the series over the Arborg Ice Dogs. In 16 games in the playoffs, the Fishermen came out on top with 11 wins and five losses. From there, they move onto to B.C. to participate in the Keystone Cup this week. Kritzer himself earned three assists in the 16 playoff games as well as 80 minutes in the sin bin. As well as the Fishermen, representing Manitoba, the Tri Town Thunder, of which Dupre is a member, will be representing Saskatchewan. From Ontario, the Thunder Bay Northern Hawks will be on hand as well as the Revelstoke Grizzlies, from B.C. and the Beaumont Chiefs from Alberta. As well as the top five teams, the Kamloops Storm, of B.C., will play as the host team.
