Dave Boivin's dream to be a professional golf instructor began a long time ago as a junior golfer, when he gave his first lesson to his father, CPGA Bill Boivin. 'It was probably one of the best lessons I have ever given, as well as the most rewarding. My dad was the head professional at Phantom Lake Golf Course at the time, a good player, and someone I wanted to be impressedÉand he was.' Recently, Dave realized one of the pinnacles of his dream, by being honoured as the Western Washington Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year for 2012. When Dave became a member of the CPGA at the age of 18, he was the youngest head golf professional in all of Canada. 'I am grateful that the Phantom Lake Golf Club gave me and my mother, Ruthie Boivin, the opportunity to run the pro shop and later the club,' which began Dave on his career path that led him to the prestigious award by his PGA peers. After spending memorable years in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, in 1994 Dave moved to the Seattle, WA area in the U.S., married, and began his focus on teaching golf. In 2006, Dave was selected as a lead instructor for ESPN's Golf Schools teaching in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Honour Through his work with ESPN Golf Schools, he had the honour to teach with the Dean of Instruction, Hank Haney, at his Signature Schools. In 2008, as the Director of Instruction at Kayak Point GC, Dave began presenting Short Game and Scoring Golf Schools, as well as developing Junior Camps, programs for High School Golf Teambuilding, Corporate Golf for Women and Coaching for Couples programs. Dave is certified as a First Tee Instructor, as well as certified Level 1 TPI, FITforeGOLF certified, and certified at the Elite Diplomate level as a B.E.S.T. practitioner. In 2012, he co-facilitated a two-day Golf School with the Golf Channel's 'Yoga for Golfers' expert, Katherine Roberts, also featuring her on his 'Ask the Pro' segment of a local radio show. In addition to private lessons his schools and clinics feature smaller class sizes to enhance the experience. In his leading edge Golf Your Personal BEST program, he helps remove interferences and conditioned reflexes, then watches miracles happen by synchronizing a client's beliefs with skills for peak performance, so you can Golf Your Personal BEST. Dave recognizes the importance of remembering where he started, and is thankful and grateful for the current and past members of the Phantom Lake Golf Club, and the community of Flin Flon.
