Caitlin Ticzon moved from Flin Flon to attend high school in the Winnipeg area and to play basketball. She attended Fort Richmond Collegiate in her final year of high school before heading to the University of Manitoba. Now Ticzon has joined the U of M Bisons women's basketball team. The Bisons recently announced the commitment of Ticzon as well as Jenilyn Monton and Claire Harvey. Coach Michele Hynes said the girls bring excitement to the team. 'Jenilyn, Claire and Caitlin all bring a new excitement and competitiveness to our program that we will be looking for on a daily basis,' Hynes was quoted as saying on the Bisons' website. 'Caitlin's quickness and ability to shoot the ball extends defences and fits our style of play very well,' she said. 'Most importantly though, all three have had challenges and adversities in their basketball careers that make them very coachable and highly motivated to continue to improve.' Ticzon played along side Harvey at Fort Richmond Collegiate in 2012-13. The 5'5' guard was a MBCA graduating all-star and 'AAAA' All-Star in 2012-13 and named MVP of the team in 2011-12 season. The Flin Flonner also played on the 2010 15U provincial team. Monton finished her high school career at Oak Park High School as part of the MHSAA 'AAAA' Championship squad in 2012-13. Varsity The 5'6' guard played varsity for four years and in the 2012-13 season, the Headingley, MB native was MVP for four out of five tournaments, MVP for conference championships, 'AAAA' All-Star plus All-Star for Provincial Championships and received the Players Choice award. Monton averaged 30+ minutes a game, 10+ assists per game and 10+ points per game and also selected to the 2012-13 All-Manitoba Team with MBCA graduating all-star selection. She participated for Team Manitoba and received All-Canadian in 15U. Harvey completed her high school career at Fort Richmond Collegiate and was a captain in 2012-13. The 6'0' forward averaged 20 points a game, 11 rebounds, four assists and three blocks per game. She was named MVP at the Selkirk tournament and Miles Mac tournament and lead the team to the provincial quarter-finals and was named a MBCA graduating all-star and AAAA' All-Star in final season at Fort Richmond. The Winnipeg native also played on the 2010 15U provincial team where she averaged 24 minutes a game at Nationals.
