The OCN Blizzard announced that former NHLer and Winnipeg Jet Neil Wilkinson is their new general manager and head coach. Wilkinson, 38, completed his professional hockey career in 2004 with the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL. Wilkinson, born in Selkirk, Man., played 10 NHL seasons with the Minnesota North Stars, San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins. In 460 NHL games he had 16 goals and 87 points, but the rugged defenseman was mostly noted for his 831 penalty minutes. He also saw action in 53 NHL playoff games. Wilkinson becomes the fourth head coach in OCN in the past three years. He replaces 2005-2006 MJHL Coach of the Year Drew Schoneck, who resigned from the position in June for personal reasons.
