Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Former Notre Dame Hound Teddy Purcell is lacing up his skates with the Tampa Bay Lightning in their run for the Stanley Cup. Purcell was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings, along with a third-round draft pick, in March in a deal that saw Jeff Halpern move to L.A. Purcell was helping the Lightning battle the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference final, which was tied at three games apiece heading into this past Friday's Game 7. Purcell learned about his trade to the Lightning from television while taping his stick in the visitors' dressing room in Nashville. It was perhaps not the preferred way to find out about the move, but he told ESPN that it's all good. "It happens. I was going to get traded either way, so it doesn't matter how you find out," he said. "I didn't really know what to expect coming into Tampa, but I came in and it seems like it's been a good fit so far. Hopefully, it'll continue for a long time now." Headlines Purcell has made headlines with the Lightning as he and Steve Stamkos were highlighted in last week's Game 6 win over the Bruins. Friday's Game 7 was played after The Reminder went to press. In the Western Conference final, the Vancouver Canucks took the series 4-1 over the San Jose Sharks to earn a berth in the Stanley Cup championship. This marks the first time since 1994 that the Canucks have earned a spot in the final round. That was the year they lost to the New York Rangers, then led by Mark Messier.
