Former Flin Flon resident Scott Clark has been enjoying life abroad. As well as travelling extensively, he has been active in the Inline Hockey scene in England Ð promoting the sport, coaching and playing. His current team, the Staring Frogs, recently finished second in England to qualify for the European Inline Hockey Championships. The Sussex-based Staring Frogs recently returned from the International Inline Skater Hockey Federation European Championships in Duisburg, Germany. As only the top 12 teams in Europe qualify for the annual competition, the competition was always going to provide the Frogs with a tough challenge. The tournament did not disappoint as the standard of the teams was exceptionally high. The teams from Holland, Poland, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK all vied for the coveted title of European Champions for 2008. The Frogs struggled but managed to do enough to get themselves into the quarter finals against the 2007 European Champion LA Tour team from Switzerland. The game was closely contested and was led by the Frogs until the last three minutes of the game, when the Swiss team equalized to send the game into overtime. Unfortunately, the Swiss team proved to strong for the Frogs defeating them in OT. The Frogs returned to the UK disappointed but having placed four places ahead of the British Champion London Street Warriors in the European Championships, their spirit remains high. The Frogs will attempt to return to the European Championships next year but, in the meantime, have their sights set on winning their league and the British National Championship title.
