The Saskatoon Blades are thrilled to announce that Steve "Hilty" Hildebrand has been named as Equipment Manager for Team Canada for the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships. This will be the second time Hildebrand will have served in the role for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships, having won a silver medal at the 2003 tournament in Halifax. "We are very proud that Steve has been chosen for this position," said Blades Owner and Governor Jack Brodsky, who also serves as the Chairman of the 2010 World Junior Championships host committee. "We believe he is the best in the Western Hockey League at his job and is a perfect fit for this role." "Hilty" is in his second tour of duty with the Blades as the team's Athletic Trainer, having rejoined the team prior to the 2007-08 season. He was previously with the Blades from 2000 to 2006. The native of Morden, Manitoba also spent time with the AHL's Manitoba Moose during the 2006-07 season and was previously with the Flin Flon Bombers of the SJHL from 1995-2000. Besides bringing his experience with the 2003 World Junior team, Hildenbrand also has experience with Hockey Canada as the Equipment Manager of the Under-18 team that competed at the 2002 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. The National Junior Team will gather in Saskatoon on August 5-10 for the World Junior Summer Development Camp. The tournament begins for Canada on December 26 at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon vs Latvia.
