Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Derek Blais wore the coveted 'C' and played for the Flin Flon Bombers for three seasons starting in 2002. Blais was named as manager of the Men's National Team programs with Hockey Canada, which includes the WJHL teams, last summer. Blais has been a key part of Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship. He has been coordinator since 2007, helping the club win gold in 2009 in Ottawa and two silvers, 2010 in Saskatchewan and 2011 in Buffalo, read a news release on the Bombers' website. Following his three seasons with the Bombers, the former captain moved on to Mount Royal College and graduated with a Bachelor of Business and Entrepreneurship specializing in Sport and Recreation. In addition to completing school, Blais played with the Cougars of the ACAC from 2004 through to 2008, winning a league championship in 2006. After graduation, Blais was named assistant coach of the Calgary Royals for the 2008-09 season.
