A familiar name to Flin Flon hockey fans will be backstopping Canada's hopes in the Spengler Cup. Morgan Cey, 24, has been added to Team Canada's roster for the international tournament to be held December 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland. Currently playing with the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League, Cey was picked by Team Canada GM Al Coates and Director of Player Personnel Lanny McDonald. This season with the Chiefs, the native of Wilkie, Sask., is 4-3-3 with .907 save percentage and a 3.20 goal against average. Cey joined the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the 2001-02 season fresh off a stint with the Bombers in which he helped the team to the Royal Bank Cup title game. After four seasons with Notre Dame, Cey over the summer signed a two-year free agent contract with the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning. The Spengler Cup tournament features the best club teams from Europe, Russia, and one team from Canada. It is held annually in Davos, Switzerland. Team Canada, usually comprised of college players and ex-NHLers who play for European club teams, has won two of the last three tournaments, but fell to Davos last year.12/23/2005
