One former Flin Flon Bomber captain is one step closer to the NHL.
Michael Young was recently invited to the San Jose Sharks’ development camp.
The Chestermere, Alta., native joins former Notre Dame Hound Rylan Schwartz at this week’s camp.
Since leaving the Bombers and aging out of the SJHL four seasons ago, Young has attended camps for the Winnipeg Jets and the Philadelphia Flyers.
The blueliner also signed a professional tryout contract with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League following his stint in Nebraska.
He finished his senior year with the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks.
This year, he held 22 points with three goals and 19 assists in 37 games.
Young and the Mavericks finished with a third-place standing with an overall record of 13-9-2-1.
Young used his experience from leading the Bombers as he dressed as captain for the Mavericks this past season.
Following the Bombers he accepted a scholarship.
While with the Bombers, Young had 125 points with 36 goals and 89 assists in 154 games.
