Carsen Chubak, former Flin Flon Bomber goalie, has committed to playing NCSS Division 1 hockey with the Purple Eagles. The Eagles are the hockey team at Niagara University in New York State. "It's really good for myself," Chubak told the Prince Albert Daily Herald. Currently playing in Kearney, Nebraska, Chubak plays for the junior A Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League. "I had a couple of offers, so I just went with where I felt most comfortable," he was quoted as saying. Feeling the excitement for next season already, the net minder said 'it's awesome. It was a good deal. It wasn't quite the full scholarship, but it was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. "I can't complain at all." Chubak got his start with the Prince Albert Mintos, where he and his team won the Canadian Midget Championship in 2007. From there, Chubak dressed in Maroon and White, playing alongside Calvin Bartel. Turning 21, he was in the market for furthering his education. Chubak told the Daily Herald that Niagara wasn't the only school he had been looking at. "I went there for a visit É and I really liked it. I came back here and thought about it for a couple of days. A couple of other schools were talking to me, but they weren't really in the picture anymore." Chubak, according to the Daily Herald, will be working back in Saskatoon this summer before heading off to Nebraska for school.
