Flinty's Gymnasts were on their game earlier this month as they participated in a meet in Thompson. Though the meet was just for fun, parent and volunteer judges still gave each gymnast an overall mark. Flinty's Gymnasts coach Sheena Reed says the girls all did 'quite well.' The April 6 competition was a fun meet, rather than a sanctioned meet. The Thompson Tumblers invited Flinty's Gymnasts to the one-day meet as they also showed off their new facility. 'Just seeing their new facility, it left us all jealous,' said Reed. The new facility features two window walls, allowing plenty of natural light in. 'It left us all in awe,' said the coach. Flinty's Gymnasts will switch roles this weekend as they will welcome the Thompson Tumblers on Saturday. The girls will play host to a fun meet of their own at the McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac gymnasium. 'It's just for fun and (gives) an opportunity to meet each other,' Reed said. This weekend, pre-competitive and competitive girls will be at the jungle-themed meet. Pre-competitive girls will not be competing this weekend, but will be on the floor with their routines. 'It will run like a meet and (give the pre-competitive girls) a chance to see what a meet is like,' said Reed. 'They just aren't judged.' The competitive group of girls will receive marks, while the pre competitive participants will receive comment cards. Cards will have 'areas to work on, like landings...and what to work on as well as what was well done,' Reed said. Overall, Flin Flon will be hosting 28 pre competitive and 14 competitive gymnasts this weekend. Thompson is expected to send 20 competitive gymnasts. Results involving the competitive girls in Thompson earlier this month are as follows: Beginner _ Silver Destiny Bishop _ Silver Naomie Dickens _ Bronze Shayna Mucha _ Silver Eden Dickens _ Silver Madison McIntyre _ Silver Intermediate (Flin Flon plus three Thompson girls) Nevada Shirran: tied for second on vault; fourth on bars; fourth on beam; fourth on floor; placed fifth overall Eve Cooper: tied second on vault; third in bars; fifth on beam; tied for third for floor; placed fourth overall Advanced (Flin Flon) Danielle Labine: first on vault; first on bars; second on beam; second on floor; placed first overall Sarah Morrison: scratch on vault; second on bars; first on beam; first on floor; placed second overall
