Snow has finally arrived, but is it enough for skiiers? "We're waiting for a good dump of snow," says Dave Price, vice-president of the Flin Flon Ski Club, in the chalet of the club. "We're happy to have the ground freeze before the snow comes." This is because if the snow falls on soft ground, skiers could find themselves trying to slide in mud. Price must have been happy as the snowfall came down on Tuesday. He doesn't know what to expect for this year, but he tells people to get ready for the season soon as he believes winters are shortened due to global warming. "We'll hope for a season like last year," Price says. With maintenance done, which involved clearing brush from the trails, the club is preparing for a new year with meetings to plan events. "We're trying to figure out which members have what roles," he explains. The club's vice-president says that anyone interested in skiing or getting involved in some way should go to the open house at the ski club on Dec. 10. The time is still to be determined. The club has 30 members including family. Renting skis began last year, but Price feels doing it again this year will help create interest and increase membership. "People don't have to be a member to ski," he says, "you can pay a trail fee." To become involved with the club call president Larry Linnick at 687-5073 or Dave Price at 687-8653.
