Although there were not as many participants attending the April 5, 2009, Canadian American Games, as in the past because of floodwaters and inclimate weather, the local participants from Flin Flon, Denare Beach, and Cranberry Portage brought home a number of medals. The tournament was held in Winnipeg and hosted by Kang's Taekwondo Academy. Approximately 350 competitors competed for gold, silver or bronze in Sparring and Patterns/Forms. From our area the following members received the following awards: George Hall Ð two Bronze medals in patterns and sparring Michael Mann Ð Silver in patterns and Gold in sparring Shawnovan Francois Ð Silver in patterns and Bronze in sparring Kari Rutherford Ð Gold in sparring Sonny Corke Ð Silver in sparring Mackenzie Deschamp Ð Bronze in sparring Tyrell Ashdown Ð Bronze in sparring There were a number of members that attended as coaches. The next tournament hosted by Kang's Taekwondo will be the inter-academy tournament held in Lorette, Manitoba October 17, 2009.
