Both Flin Flon and The Pas will reap the benefits of an online fishing contest. Residents of both communities were encouraged to vote for their towns in the Ultimate Fishing Town contest earlier this year. The communities with the highest votes in each region were guaranteed a reward. Flin Flon will receive $1,500 while The Pas will see $3,500. Though neither town was the big $25,000 winner, Flin Flon will receive its $1,500 to 'benefit the future of fishing' according to the Ultimate Fishing Town website. The Pas received more votes than Flin Flon in the final voting stage and will therefore receive the additional money. The Pas earned a Regional winner title. Port Colborne, Ont., and Point Breeze, NY, have been listed as the big winners of the online contest. Each city will receive $25,000 in a community donation as well as Promotional Spot on World Fishing Network. Other Regional winners went to Gananoque, Ont.; Hampstead, NB; Waddington, New York; Cape Hattereas, North Carolina; Cocodrie, Louisiana; Grand Lake, Colorado; Grand Rapids, M i n n e s o t a ; a n d Bridgeport, California. Flin Flon was one of four communities to receive the donation to benefit the future of fishing. Woodstock , NB, Deseronto, Ont., and Campbellford, Ont., were the other three winners of $1,500.
