Tomorrow is the earlybird registration deadline for the Flin Flon Summer Hockey School. This will be Mike Reagan's fourth year as director of the school, and for the first time, two full weeks of sessions will be offered. Those registering before the deadline will be entered into a draw for one week of hockey school at half price, and a Bomber season ticket. As well, early registrations include a discount of $20 off the total price. So far, registration is going well. Reagan's instructors bring a wealth of knowledge, skill and enthusiasm to the school. Joining Reagan will be many former Flin Flon Bombers, as well as some of his friends from across the hockey globe. Included this year are Dallas Fidierchuk, Nathan Waberski, Dustin Ernest, Joal Williams and Brian Tucker, all former Flin Flon Bombers, as well as Chris Affinati of the Lakeland Loggerheads and Pat Iannone, who played in Italy last year. Nathan Waberski is currently with the University of Regina, while Joal Williams is with Mount Royal College and Brian Tucker has been playing with the Memphis River Kings. Aside from an additional week of hockey school this year, an extra day has been added to accommodate the growing goaltender school. Reagan has also reworked the classroom sessions to include discussions about hockey conduct, including hazing, respect for players and officials, as well as the Todd Bertuzzi incident. The first week of hockey school will run from August 9-14, while week two will run from August 16-21. Age groups have also been changed slightly. Players ages 6-8 will be in the Junior category, Intermediate will be for ages 9-12, Senior for ages 13-15 and conditioning for 16 and up for those wishing to get in proper condition for upcoming midget, junior, college or pro teams. The evening session is for ages 12-15. The day program includes 2.5 hours of quality ice time daily in which participants will be instructed in a variety of individual and team skill tactics. The off ice program includes instructional videos, hockey trivia, fitness and recreational activities. Featured events include the Superstar Competition, skill testing and the Saturday morning challenge game. The evening program consists of 75 minutes of ice time daily as well as the Saturday morning challenge game. A registration skate will kick off each week of the school on the Sunday evening before the regular sessions begin. Brochures and registration forms are available around town at various sponsor locations or at the Flin Flon Rec Office.
