The Norman Regional Starskate Competition was held in The Pas on January 28 and 29. Skaters from The Pas, Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Gillam and Thompson competed in the event. At the end of the competition 10 of the 14 skaters from the Flin Flon Skating Club came home with medals. The following is a list of the medals that the Flin Flon girls won: Pre-Preliminary Free Skate (11 and over) Gold - Shilo Baribeau Bronze - Tegan Nordick Preliminary Free Skate (10 and under) Gold - Mikayla Gawiak Preliminary Free Skate (11 and over) Gold - Kara Rutley Silver - Natasha Rothlander Bronze - Rikki Crone Senior Bronze Free Skate Gold - Annalee Stevens Preliminary Skills Gold - Kara Rutley Silver - Mikayla Gawiak Bronze - Natasha Rothlander/Rikki Crone Introductory Interpretive Gold - Brandi Hanna Silver - Kara Rutley Silver Interpretive Gold - Amanda Hill Gold Interpretive Gold - Annalee Stevens Introductory Improv. Silver - Mikayla Gawiak Bronze - Hanna Hvidsten Senior Improv. Gold - Amanda Hill Preliminary/Jr. Bronze Team Event Bronze Medal - Mikayla Gawiak, Natasha Rothlander, Rikki Crone & Shilo Baribeau The winners of the Free Skate events at the Norman Regional Competitions will now have the opportunity to compete in the Provincials held at Souris, Manitoba on March 3 - 6, 2005. Heather Bergin will also be competing in the Triathalon event at Souris. Heather Bergin, Annalee Stevens and Brandi Hanna will also be heading down south next weekend to compete in the Manitoba Open in Portage, Manitoba. We want to wish all of the girls and their terrific coach, Carla Wabick good luck in their competitions in Souris and Portage. Keep up the good work girls. Your dedication is paying off.
